When I've got nothing to say ...

...I still have something to say

I have a folder filled with drafts of things to write about and to share with you. Some drafts are near complete, some are filled with thoughts that I plan to one day piece together, and some are a few sentences I jotted down so that I remember to come back and flesh out.

Today when I sat in my chair and opened up my drafts to begin writing for this week, none of the drafts compelled me to complete them. And I thought, when I don’t have anything specific I want to say, there are still things that I want to say. They’re the things that if you’ve been around me long enough you’ve likely heard, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t worth repeating so that they can sink in a layer deeper than they may have up until this point.

So, today, a day when I thought I didn’t have anything to say, I say this:

I hope that you know with great assurance and confidence that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. You don’t earn value through performance or titles or roles or things you own. You are worthy of living a life of intention, peace, joy, and health. And that life requires effort. You are worth the effort it takes.

You are loved. You belong. I care deeply for you and pray for you often even if I don’t know you by name.

It is important that you get clear on who you are and what you value, it becomes the foundation for every single thing in your life—the decisions you make, what you say yes or no to, what you give your time, attention, and money to, really everything.

I hope you learn to honor the season you are in and stop looking at the lives of others. I want you to live each day with purpose and intention, not seeking to be productive for the sake of productivity, but seeking to be purposeful and intentional with every inhale and exhale.

I hope that you laugh today. I hope that at least once this week you get a laugh that makes your side sore. I hope that you find rest in your own company and develop a love for yourself that deepens with time.

I hope you learn to forgive—yourself first and others as well.

I hope that you will pursue truth no matter the cost. Anything that requires you to choose it over truth isn’t worth your time or energy.

I want you to learn the value of consistency so that you can commit to being a person who is consistent with the things that matter.

I want you to unlearn unhealthy habits and develop the resolve to make choices that are for good for your mental, emotional, spiritual, financial, and physical growth.

I write because I want good things for you and I believe you read because you do too.

When I have nothing new to say, these are the things that I want to repeat and continue to say and share.
