February 1, 2025 feels like it was last year at this point but I wanted to look back and share about some of my February which rolls right into my March. Much like January, February was full in the best way.

Connecting

Charleston Store Opening

I traveled to Charleston to celebrate Stephanie Hall and her company, Estelle Colored Glass, for their grand opening on King Street (which is a pretty big deal when talking about location location location). A woman owned brand that she built from the ground up sits next to, and is surrounded by, high end luxury and I was thrilled to celebrate this milestone with Stephanie and honored at the invitation to have an early preview of the store and dinner to celebrate!

Mocktails were served all night long in her gorgeous stemware and it felt so nice going to an event without saying, “no thank you” to every drink offered. I got to taste everything on the menu and it was such a beautiful gesture that reflects Stephanie’s “company values and ethos” as she explained.

Clemson Women in Leadership Conference

I was also invited to attend Clemons University’s Women in Leadership Conference by a friend who chaired the event and it was a BEAUTIFUL day well spent! I got to meet some spectacular young women, one of whom led a workshop that I attended. I was so impressed by each and every speaker and workshop that I attended and the keynote speaker left me with questions to think on. My favorite being to complete the sentence—”wouldn’t it be cool if______.” I’ve since reflected on the prompt and love it’s invitation to dream. 10/10 experience and I was grateful to go to both give and receive.

Friends, Friends, Friends!

My long-time friend Christina came to town and she and I, along with our friend Jamie went to dinner for Galentines. It was so nice to sit and catch up with friends in person who I only get to see every so often. Thankfully, Christina is now a trustee at our alma mater here in Greenville so I get to see her multiple times each year!

I put a Facetime call on my calendar to catch up face to face (virtually) with my friend Lara. If you’re sending voice notes and texts back and forth with a friend, get on each other’s schedule for a proper Facetime call if you can’t get together physically. There’s something about seeing your friends face as you talk to one another that cannot be replaced.

I also got together on the first day of February with three friends in town for our annual Planning & Prayer. A full day of sharing where we are, what’s going on, and what we’re hoping for in the upcoming year. It’s one of my favorite days of the year and I never want it to end truly. We have such a great time and I love to hear friends share their dreams, desires, and prayer requests. It makes the celebrations on the other side that much sweeter! Do you do anything like this with your friends? I love them so much I’ve considered doing a large one for the women in my audience.

Home & Family

Movement

I continued to train for my 10k coming up on April 5th and purchased a treadmill desk to get some walking done while also working on a few things like emails and looking for wallpaper and curtain samples! It’s been a great addition to my garage gym and a way to add movement to otherwise stationary tasks that don’t require as much brain power!

Wallpaper!

I ordered samples of wallpaper for my office. I’m wallpapering the wall behind my desk and I am very excited about it because I found something that I like! I felt my mind starting to tell me, “look at more options, are you sure this is the one?” and I silenced her by ordering the wallpaper in March, it should arrive in early April! It’s just wallpaper, peel and stick, not worth any more time or brain space. I’ll share once it’s up which should be in April!

Field Trip

I chaperoned my son’s field trip in February and he was as excited as a child in a candy store with a 100% off coupon! I surprised him on the day of. He had asked me to chaperone his next field trip but the selection of chaperones is done by a lottery system. I put my name in and was selected for his class! When I walked into the classroom his little face lit up and that was all I needed that day! We had a great time and my appreciation for first grade teachers (and teachers in general) deepened!

Bag search

I also spent February looking for an every day+ bag. What I mean by the plus is something that can hold my usual (wallet, hand sanitizer, lotion, pens/pencil, kleenex, mask) AND a few extras like my kindle, a journal or book. After visiting a lot of stores I landed on this Coach bag which I have carried every single day since early February when I purchased it. It goes with everything and it was just what I was looking for—something to keep me from bag switching daily, good quality so it can take going with me everywhere, and it holds SO much even though it’s mainly the basics and a book or kindle or journal in there in my every day.

Reading

I finished two new books in February and a write up on both is in the works. I also started re-reading Psychology of Money. I haven’t made much headway yet. I need to re-configure my schedule to make more time for reading because my “to be read” pile is growing more than I would like. I have an idea for April—no tv for the month of April—that I’m considering. I may make it a Sunday - Thursday thing. While I don’t watch much tv, the times that I do could easily be substituted for reading instead. I’ll report back.
