Getting back to who I am and what I want

Every day, every week, every month for the past three years in particular I have used the words “get clear on who you are and what you want” countless times.

The great thing about teaching something is it stays in your ear, heart, and mind non-stop planting seeds so that you, too, can reap the benefits.

I recently made a decision that is a reflection of me being clear on who I am and what I want and what I want to focus my work time on.

I’ve spent time processing how I want to move forward with effectively teaching, encouraging, empowering, and providing resources for the women in my community—do I cut out Instagram because it fails a pro/con list significantly, how do I create for my community in a way that allows me to connect with them in safe spaces? The list of questions that I have thought through have led me to going back to who I am and what I want.

Who I am (in part). I am an encourager, a teacher, a student, a guide, a woman who loves deeply and who desires to contribute to the community that I have cultivated.

What I want. I want to be in community in safe spaces and I want to talk about things that matter, have conversation and provide resources that I know are effective, grounded in truth, and transformative.

So last week I re-vamped the Best Today® Community moving us to a better platform that is much more user friendly and helps me to honor how I want to show up for my community. I am trimming everything else and putting my focus, efforts, and time in the Community. Resources I plan to create? For the Community. Workshops I want to teach? For the Community. Where do I want to spend my time and energy? In the Community.

I just took a deep breath as I typed that last sentence. It feels really good. Pruning, for me, usually does. I am excited an invigorated to create things I’ve had in mind, starting with Life Class, a course in self-discovery that I’m introducing to the Community this month!

Creating in a space that is safe and welcoming, that is filled with like-minded people who desire to see each other thrive, a place of support, accountability, and vulnerability, feels so exciting; and it’s an excitement I had lost the past few months.

I took a page out of my own book and sat down to get clear on what I wanted (thanks to the Anytime Today® Journal).

I say all of the above to say (1) it’s always a good idea to pause and line up what is versus who you are and what you want and course correct if you find things are not aligned and (2) sometimes going back to your first love is the answer. And mine is Community with women. That is my focus.

I never lose when I stay true to myself.
